This website is dedicated to those who were members of the Capital Singers during the years that Jerry Vevig was the director at Capital High School in the Boise, Idaho school district. During those years the groups toured extensively, participated in many competitions, and recorded albums of their music.
In the summer of 2015, some former members of the Capital Singers organized a reunion for those who were members in 1972, 1973, and 1974. During some of the activities, I spoke with Jerry Vevig and offered to capture any of the recordings that the group made and make them available. Jerry agreed and thus began a project to convert the available materials and preserve them in the best possible condition. The quality of the source material varies ( LP records or cassette tapes ) with some being in rough shape and others in remarkably good condition. Unfortunately, Don Cederstrom who did most of the recordings, passed away a few years ago and his business closed. A search for the original recording tapes turned up nothing.
Using the latest digital tools, I've made every effort to restore the material but there are limits as to what can be done. Most albums were captured with high resolution (24 bit PCM) and at 96 kHz sample rate. Music files on this site are in 256 kbps MP3 format for maximum compatibility and reasonable size. I have both cd quality versions of all of the files and high resolution versions of most files (these are too large for this website - contact me if you are interested). I've also included scans of the available album covers.
